Colleen just keeps cracking us up.......so I had to add the latest things to the blog before I forget!
This morning Jeff said to Colleen "A grown up boy is called a man. Do you know what a grown up girl is called?"
Colleen responded "A housekeeper"
I don't know where that came from.
When I was dropping Colleen and Kellen off at school, she said another funny thing.
Colleen asked if she could undo her seatbelt. I said yes and I proceeded to take Kellen out of the car.
Colleen started screaming in a very excited voice "Mommy, we can go there to eat. We can go there to eat for your birthday."
I asked her where she was pointing.
Colleen responded "Over there Mom. It has a sign and a roof and we can eat there!"
Now, the funny thing is that she was in fact, pointing to a restuarant - the Greystone Grill. I didn't know you could see it from the parking lot of her school. It is a very fancy place.
She must be perceptive, because Jeff and I have been discussing where we could go out for my birthday dinner and the Greystone Grill was one of the possibilites - but she would have no idea about that!

Colleen the Hair Stylist
Kellen Helping Mommy Work
A few days in the past couple weeks, I have had to work from home because Kellen has been sent home from daycare with a "fever" (don't get me started on that!)
Most of the time, I will stay up late at night to work - so that I don't have to take vacation time. But when I have to work during the day, Kellen is a great coworker and sits/stands quietly in his crib watching his Baby Einstein DVDs.
He is such a GREAT boy!
The funniest thing that he has been doing is refusing to sign "please". (They teach the toddlers sign language at daycare since they can't talk yet.) Kellen knows how to sign all the words they have taught, but for some reason he REFUSES to sign please.
So over the long weekend, we worked with him on signing please and he was doing it for everything that he wanted!
I was so happy!
So this morning, I couldn't wait to show his teacher that he could do it and wouldn't you know. He refused to do it! But after about 5 minutes of begging and a little banana bribery, he finally broke down and did it!

Colleen Surprises Us Again
Colleen is always surprising us with the funny things that she says.
"Oh.....OK then. Make sure they are under there and that your baby goes to sleep or else the Tooth Fairy won't come" I quickly responded.
Sunday, I heard Colleen correcting Kellen for something, but wasn't sure what it was. I asked her what Kellen did and she responded "Mommy, Kellen keeps putting his fingers on the glass window....and it is leaving marks"
(Wow - that isn't me! That is her Grammy talking)
Finally, the biggest surprise of all came on Sunday night. Jeff was putting Colleen to bed when her heard her singing something. The lines were "She was a girl.......He was a boy.....Can I make it any more obvious"
Any guesses on the song?
Yes - Sk8ter Boy from Avril Levine. She heard Jeff and I singing it earlier in the day, while we were playing Sing Star. Amazingly enough she heard it once and was able to remember the words.
Like this morning, she told me she was a "dult" because she has a kid. She told me that she took her baby to get her hair cut, but her baby cried because the person was a stranger.
Tonight she wasn't going to bed, so I asked her what was going on. She responded "Mom, my baby lost her teeth, so I had to put them under her pretend pillow so the Tooth Fairy will come""Oh.....OK then. Make sure they are under there and that your baby goes to sleep or else the Tooth Fairy won't come" I quickly responded.

Kellen feeding himself
Don't even know how he got it on his back!
Sometimes it works out OK - with finger foods
Sometimes it doesn't workout so well - when he attempts to use a spoon or fork
The pictures above show the results of when it doesn't work out so well
Funny Things from the Kids
There are always funny stories from the kids - so here are a few that I can remember right now
Colleen was questioning why she was riding in Jeff's car instead of riding in my car after we picked my car up from the shop. Jeff explained that we needed two drivers to take both cars back home. She then said "I have an idea Dad. We can ride in Mommy's car and pull your car with a long rope"
Kellen has learned how to fish. Not literally, but he undestands the concept. This morning there was something on the table, just out of his reach.....so he took the placemat and moved it under the item and then pulled it back to him.
Now that is smart!
Jeff and I were talking in code - aka Spanish - and Colleen says "Hey Guys! You need to speak English!"

Kellen opening up his card from Mommy
Colleen excited for school
Mommy's Valentines
Happy Valentine's Day to all!We had such a wonderful day with the kids. The day started out with pictures and ended with a special dinner prepared by Jeff.
We got Colleen some pink and red carnations.....she was VERY happy to have flowers for Valentine's Day. We got both kids cards and they were both excited to open them
Thanks to everyone else who sent special Valentine's.....the kids LOVED them!
Happy Valentine's Day - School Parties
"Look at my red heart cookie"
Colleen with all her friends at school
Colleen singing with Mr. Carlos
Kellen eating with all his friends
Both kids had their school Valentine's Day parties today. Colleen was so excited about Valentine's Day and the big party. She was also excited because I was allowing her to wear her watch and her new heart necklace to school today.
Kellen wasn't really sure what to make of the whole day. He was just excited to see that I came early to pick him up from school!
Congrats on all the New Babies!
We just want to give a big shout out to all of our friends who have had babies in the past couple weeks! We can't wait to see more pictures!
Congrats to Anne and Charlie for the arrival of Brayden Charles (his picture is above)
Congrats to Kerry and Kris for the arrival of Colleen Elizabeth (I LOVE the name)
Congrats to Phil and Michelle for the arrival of Chase Bradley....just this morning
The Big Ice Storm
Kellen's 15 Months Old
It is so hard to believe that Kellen is already 15 months old! Time is really flying by so quickly.
Kellen is doing so well these days. He loves having books read to him, he loves "stirring" things (usually Colleen's tea set) and just loves being chased by anyone
Kellen also had his checkup at the doctor's this past week. His weight was a little under - only 30% - but that is to be expected since Kellen was sick the previous week with the vomiting and stuff. His height is 70% - so I have a feeling he will be tall just like Jeff!

Superbowl Commentary
This morning we were talking about the Superbowl with Colleen. We were telling her to congratulate Ms. Grishae - Kellen's teacher, because her team won. Thank you Giants!
Colleen asked why did the Giants win. We explained they were the better team and they beat the Patriots.
She then asked, why did the Patriots not win. We explained to her that they didn't play that well and they were not respectful to the other team.
Then she said to me "Maybe they wear mean helmets, but when they come home and take them off, they are nice"
So cute!

Our visit with Haley and Josie
Kellen attempting to fix Haley's hat?
Baby Josie without paci....so cute
Baby Haley without paci.....laughing at Aunt Ri Ri
We all enjoyed visiting with the twins and everyone else. Colleen went instantly off to play with cousin Kiely. We took Kellen to see the twins, Haley and Josie. He was amazed at the little babies. After a little while of me holding the babies, Kellen got a little jealous.
I am just amazed at how much the twins have changed since their arrival in November. They have grown so much. (you can see the old pictures on the November 2007 posting) I know they will be crawling around before we know it!
Kellen's New Hair Cut
"Here Kellen, you can have some of my cookie"
Kellen's hair was getting WAY too long and since Jeff and I don't feel comfortable doing it ourselves......Jeff took Kellen to Cartoon Cuts at the Mall.
Now, Kellen's hair look so cute and he looks like such the big boy.
