UMBC is going to the DANCE!

Today, Jeff and I went to the UMBC game - the America East Championship Game - where UMBC beat Hartford, to not only win the conference final, but to also win the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament!

It was such an exciting game.....I can't even describe it. The stands were packed! The arena (RAC) was so loud I could barely hear Jeff talking right next to me. We stood for most of the game, cheering the team on with every awesome shot made or turnover created. The team played like they were on a mission and no one was going to stop them.

The game started out 6-2, but then UMBC said enough of this, and turned around the early deficit by going on a 20-0 run. Most of the first half they lead by 25 points and shot 70% from the field. The second half was little different. They let Hartford get with in 10....but just like the first half, they said enough of this and quickly stretched the lead back out to 20 again!

When the final buzzer sounded they fans went crazy and all the students stormed the court. It was such an awesome sight to see. I knew Jeff....along with the rest of the loyal UMBC fans.....have been waiting for this day for a LONG time! I was so happy that I could be a part of that!

We stayed for the trophy presentation and the cutting down of the nets. That was so great to see too - you only usually get to experience something like that on TV.

Now we just have to see where UMBC gets placed in the tournament brackets.....and hope for an upset!

PS - Clemson did play today too and pulled a big upset over Duke. Now they are going to face North Carolina in the finals of the ACC Championship. Let's hope they have the same great luck UMBC did!
